So, now that I've grossed most everyone out with my toothbrush story, here's a few more "light & cheery" things from our everyday:
:: Leif likes to help. While this is nothing new, what is newish is that he likes to set the table, put things away, and be a big help to his Momma in general. When I get dinner going, he runs to the china cabinet to get out plates and silverware and places them on the table where we sit. Sometimes I have to replace bowls with plates, and plates with bowls, but for the most part he gets it right and is a really big help to me (literally!)
:: He's also big into doing things himself. Getting dressed, putting on shoes, and brushing teeth are all things that he is pretty adamant about doing himself. Sometimes the shoes are on the wrong feet, the underwear on backwards, or a shirt is inside out. Sometimes two legs are in one pantleg, and he calls for help, but otherwise, he's bound and determined to do it himself. That makes me one happy Momma. I also love his mistakes - it is rather funny to see him standing there with one or all of the abovementioned dressing faux pas goin' on. I try to conceal my giggle, give him a big hug for cuteness, and then we fix the clothing issues.
:: If left to his own devices, he works on puzzles, reads books aloud to himself (he's not actually reading - he's just repeating the story back, generally very close to the actual words, from memory), and plays with trucks and tools. He loves to do welding with his welding tools from Grandmom and Granddad, and will spend a good part of each day measuring around the house with different measuring tools.
:: He also enjoys running around in circles. He places his blankie on the floor in a pile over his giraffe, then runs around and around (and around) it over and over again. Sometimes this ends with an accidental run-in with the wall, or a trip over a foot. For the most part, though, he runs til he's pooped and then snuggles in to the blanket with giraffe.
That's all for now! Happy Days!

He has welding tools?! Must see those.
ReplyDeleteDoes he nap? I am tired just thinking about all the work he's doing.
Haps morns.
Sounds like a dream. I can't wait for my little girlfriend to start being a big help just like her cousin Leif!
ReplyDeleteHe sure does have welding tools - even a mask and a clicky thing (dunno what that is called!)
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't nap. Every once in a while he will, but I took him off naps shortly before Thanksgiving and haven't looked back - life has been so much nicer!
It is great when he can help, Sarah! It takes more effort from me as well, but it's all worth it! :)
