A Cabbage plant. Sadly, my cabbages have taken a hit from cabbage worms, who eat their way through the leaves (hence the holes). Nevertheless, the cabbages have grown immensely and are making great strides towards adulthood.
TOMATOES!!!
We have loads of little tomatoes growing on all of the different bushes (I'm not even sure how many varieties of tomato we have at this point - 5? 6?) These are the Homestead.
The Basil is doing well smooshed between the tomato plants as it is. Here is one plant - I think there are 4. And of course, I want more! One of my favorite things is to run outside and grab Basil for tomato sauces, tomato soup, and yes, occasionally, I just pick off a leaf or two and pop it in my mouth! Mmm...
Sideview of the Homestead Maters. Grandmom and Granddad brought down a few bamboo stakes with them last week, and so a few of the plants are staked, but the others desperately need it. Of course, no amount of staking would have helped during the week of their visit - if the skies weren't grey and scowling, the were unleashing torrential downpours of rain and a onslaught of high wind on my poor little garden. The tomato plants weren't the only plants in the garden to create holes in the ground where their leaves were sweeping the earth so forcefully, but they are now growing sideways as a result of a full week of non-stop wind. But, they're still producing maters! :)
