The Armoire!

This armoire has lived many lives inside our various houses. It started out as Leify's nursery armoire, housing all of his clothes. Then, in the next house, it was Jason's armoire, housing all of his clothes. When we moved here, it didn't fit in to any of the bedrooms as a closet, so it became a catch all for any random things we didn't quite know what to do with. It looked as if a little explosion had happened on the inside. If anyone ever went near it, (and if I couldn't stop them in time), I'd grimace and hide my blushing face in shame. But, NO more!! Now it is a svelte, clean, organized little hideaway for all of our bath towels and various other linens! Behold! The picture above shows the whole upper part of the armoire. The top rung holds a roll of drawing paper for all the kiddlies. The top shelf holds throw blankets, less likely in use during the hot summer months, but still accessible, just in case. Next to that is a cannister of tealights that had previously been stashed in their unwieldly and unsightly partial bags. And there are two jars: one holds colored pencils and the other holds crayons (to go with above paper). Huzzah! Organization, thy name is Armoire!

A close up of the tealight cannister (these were all jars I had stashed, empty, in a closet) - I even tossed a little box of matches in there with the candles, so everything is in one spot. I put a few sticks of cinnamon in the colored pencil jar so that the armoire would have a nice smell, not one of Crayola. And of course, a seashell to top it all off. Can't live here and not have a seashell in every spot, now can we? :)

The lower shelves, stacked with towels (admittedly, my towels are the most wretched towels anyone has ever seen. Some of them are literally see-through with age and wear. Some, I'm afraid, are older than I am. In the bottom left, a pillowcase holds its mates, the spare sheets for the guest bedroom. Call me Laura Stewart. ;)
